Els Hellebaut D.O.
Els Hellebaut, DO, is the founder of the Paramedisch Centrum Deurle. In this Center a paramedical team of Physical therapists, osteopaths, remedial education specialists, and midwives focus on a collaborative approach with the patient as focal point with special emphasis on infants and children.
1987: Diploma of Graduate in Kinesitherapy from Stedelijk Hoger Instituut voor Paramedische Beroepen (SHIPB) Ghent, Belgium.
1992: Interested in the fasciatherapy method (DBM) of Dr. Danis Bois, started part-time education in Osteopathy at the International Academy of Osteopathy (IAO) in Ghent, Belgium
1998: Graduated with DO Diploma in Osteopathy.
1998: While establishing her own Osteopathic Clinic, worked for 6 months (1 day/week) in the practice of Guy Herrel, DO. Enthusiastic about solving issues with infants and children, Els continued studies in this field.
2004: Attended several postgraduate courses by Dr. V. Frymann at the Ecole Supérieure d’Ostéopathie (ESO) in Paris, France and subsequently ventured to the United States.
2005/6: Accepted for a rotation in the practice of Dr. V. Frymann in the Osteopathic Center for Children in San Diego, CA. During this training period, Els was also active in the practice of Dr. C.Valenti, which gave her specific experience with functional optometry. Els continued close contact with Drs. Frymann, Barr and Valenti and has kept traveling to San Diego for additional postgraduate education several times per year.
2018: Taught “Mechanics of birth and its influence on the posture of the baby: The unwinding technique” in Pasadena, CA For an audience of osteopaths.
2018: Els maintains close contact with the OCSD in San Diego and will collaborate in scientific/clinical research project on plagiocephaly.
Els’ vision is osteopathy in its most conservative form, providing hands-on treatment of the infant, the child, and the adult starting from the anatomy, neurology and physiology.
